Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts dismisses assertions by those who support expanding Medicaid that it would stimulate the state economy.
Organizers appear to have gathered more than enough signatures to place the measure on the November ballot. A selling point they use is drawing down a billion dollars in federal funds to help pay for it.
Ricketts doubts it. . .
Ricketts insists there are better ways to cover the estimated 90-Thousand Nebraskans who don’t qualify for Medicaid, but cannot afford private insurance. He says Congress needs to act. . .
The federal government has promised to pay 90-percent of the cost of expansion, leaving the state to pay an estimated 100-Million dollars a year.
