Nebraska Governor Calls EPA Ag’s Biggest Enemy

Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman and State Ag Director Greg Ibach spoke with reporters Monday in conjunction with the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island. Governor Heineman says agriculture’s biggest opponent is the Environmental Protection Agency which has expanded its regulatory over reach and that’s hurting the ag economy.
State Ag Director Greg Ibach says EPA has expanded its authority against agriculture on several occasions and hampered personal privacy, property rights, and even attempted to cut the renewable fuel standard.
Ibach says he’s hoping that now that the RFS volume rule is over at the White House Office of Management and Budget, that ag will get a favorable ruling. He says however if it goes the other way he won’t be surprised.
