As the annual whooping crane migration begins, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is once again asking residents to report any sighting of the rare bird.

Program Manager Joel Jorgensen says bystander documentation of where the flock stops and what their environments are like go a long way toward the conservation of the species…

Jorgensen says thanks to the efforts of both conservation experts and the public the population of the species is growing. . .

At around 5 feet tall with a pure white coat and black wing tips, the cranes are hard to miss.

Report any sightings to Game and Parks.
