Nebraska’s tallest known tree is a White Poplar in Fremont that stands about 115-feet tall.
The Nebraska Forest Service is looking for more giant trees to be added to the state’s champion tree register.
Spokesman Kyle Martens says nominations are accepted every few years for 80 species of trees.
He says the trees can be on public or private property.

Martens says the trees are ranked by species, so not all will be 100-feet tall.

Trees are given points based on their height, circumference, and crown spread.
The Nebraska Forest Service also needs the trees location to verify measurements.
