Nebraska Flooding Hits Pork Producers

The disastrous flood which recently hit Nebraska has impacted most sectors of agriculture including the pork industry. Nebraska Pork Producers Association Executive Director Al Juhnke says getting feed to swine has been difficult.

He says counties have been very responsible in recovery efforts as many producers have had to reroute their feed transporting due to roads being washed out.

Juhnke says some towns are re-opening but the flooding caused a disruption for pork processing plants.

Juhnke says there are several resources available to assist those impacted by the flooding including several websites. He says that includes University of Nebraska Extension, Nebraska Farm Bureau and the Nebraska Cattlemen Association.
