Nebraska Farmers Union Opposes National GMO Labeling Bill

A House subcommittee this week took a look at legislation that would pre empt GMO labeling bills and call for a National Labeling measure. Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen says his group opposes that measure and strongly supports state’s rights to label what they think is important.
Those in favor of the National GMO labeling bill are worried about the patchwork of state rules that may develop. Hansen says state’s rights should take precedence over that concern.
The National Labeling legislation is supported by both the American Farm Bureau Federation and the National Corn Growers Association
