One Nebraska farm group leader is unimpressed with the recent study done by the University of Nebraska Lincoln looking at the state’s livestock friendly county designation program. Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen says despite the positives the study claims, there are no tangible benefits for a county to be officially identified as livestock friendly.

He says in addition the livestock friendly designation provides no guarantee of whether or not livestock operations will succeed or fail

Hansen says his group opposed the livestock friendly program when it was first proposed because it took away local control.

Hansen says there are serious concerns and issues with how the Nebraska Department of Agriculture is administering the livestock friendly program.
