Three Unions are endorsing Ohio Congresswoman Marcia Fudge to be the new Ag Secretary under the Biden administration. Joining them is the Nebraska Farmers Union. President John Hansen says Fudge’s experience on the House Ag Committee and her ability to work with that panel makes her a good choice for the job.

The Union leaders sent a letter to President Elect Joe Biden saying Fudge has been an advocate for all workers including meat processing workers and has fought attempts to increase line speeds at packing plants. Hansen says his group shares those concerns.

He says the Congresswoman’s participation as a member of the House Education and Labor Committee which oversees school meals and other child nutrition programs will help her as Congress starts writing the next farm bill.

The Unions supporting Fudge include: the American Federation of State
County and Municipal Employees, the American Federation of Teachers and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.
