Nebraska Farmer Pleased Supreme Court Rules Against Keystone XL Project

The United States Supreme Court has handed down another setback to the Keystone XL pipeline project. It kept in place a lower court ruling that blocked a key environmental permit for the project. Nebraska farmer Art Tanderup who’s battled the pipeline for nearly a decade is pleased with the High Court’s decision. He says all environmental studies must be completed before any of those pipeline projects are allowed to proceed.

He says his concern has centered around needed environmental protections for water and for all agricultural land in Nebraska impacted by the pipeline.

While a TC Energy spokesman says the company is not giving up on Keystone, Tanderup says he intends to continue fighting it.

A T.C. energy spokesman says the latest court decision will delay very large portions of the 1200 mile oil sands pipeline. The company began work on a section of the line in Alberta and will continue with it while the company continues their court fight in the United States.
