European Union Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmstroem says the recent EU-Canada trade deal has not killed off the chance for the U.S. reaching a deal with the E.U. on the Trans Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership agreement. Nebraska Farm Bureau National Affairs Coordinator Jordan Dux agrees but says it will take time to finish the TTIP.

Dux says for a successful TTIP to be reached, several ag issues have to be worked out with the European Union including their constant opposition to biotechnology.

He says another important agricultural issue that needs to be agreed to is sanitary photo sanitary measures.

Dux says given the recent ag economic downturn in the U.S., reaching trade deal agreements can be one of the solutions.
