The U.S. and China held trade talks on Monday over the so called phase one trade deal. The two sides reported progress and Chinese officials said the two sides agreed to create conditions and atmosphere to continue pushing forward toward the implementation of the trade deal. Nebraska Farm Bureau’s Director of National Affairs Jordan Dux says while trade with China had been slow, at least it is continuing and the hope is now they can get it accomplished.

He says while there are some non ag issues to work out with China ,keeping that trade flowing is important for both countries.

Recently, China purchased more U.S. new crop corn and Dux says that’s very positive while the hope is they purchase more US. Commodities including soybeans and pork.

China has also committed to buying more U.S. soybeans as well as sorghum and Dux says that’s also a good sign.
