Wednesday, the U.S. House voted 369 to 47 to approve the 2018 farm bill. That followed Tuesday’s passage by the Senate on an 87 to 13 vote. The $867 billion bill now heads to President Trump for his signature. Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen is pleased farmers now have certainty with the passage of the legislation but would have liked to have seen a better measure.
He says they’re disappointed better payment limits weren’t included in the bill.
Hansen says the farm bill needed to provide farmers a much better safety net.
Hansen also says they would have liked to have seen a farm bill passed two months ago.
