Nebraska Farm Leader Says China Sometimes Guilty Of Manipulating Its Currency

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin has advised against naming China a currency manipulator. That comes as both countries are trying ease tensions caused by the current trade war. Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen says it’s hard to pinpoint consistent currency manipulation done by China which gives them a market advantage. He says the Trump administration may be attempting to get China to the table to find a resolution to the trade war.

He says China is the biggest trading partner for the U.S. that doesn’t have a free market based economy.

Hansen says China needs to be treated differently than with other trading partners.

The trade deficit between the U.S. and China has widened in both August and September of this year.
