Nebraska Farm Bureau President Steve Nelson testifying at a legislative hearing Thursday looking at school funding and property taxes said there’s an inequity in how schools are funded in the state. He says farmers and ranchers have been carrying a heavier burden than most taxpayers and that problem is getting worse.

Nelson says that inequity in who pays for education funding is increasing.
He says farmers and ranchers want good education for their children and have been paying that bill for many years now.

Nelson says there has to be a recognition of that problem before any solutions can be found.
