Nebraska lawmakers passed LB 657 this session legalizing the growing of industrial hemp and its products, including cannabidiol or CBD. Both the State Farmers Union and Farm Bureau supported the measure. Farmers Union President John Hansen says they’ve been working for this for the last twelve years.

He says once the Governor signs the bill that growers will be able to grow it on a limited basis this year and then on a much broader scale in 2020.

Hansen says there are different uses for the product.

He says the industrial hemp that’s used for CBD generally brings a higher price.
