The 2020 session of the Nebraska Legislature gets underway in Lincoln on Wednesday. State agricultural groups are keeping an eye on livestock development and water issues. Nebraska Cattlemen Association Government Affairs Director Ashley Kohls says regarding water one of the main concerns for their members and dealing with a possible repeat of the 2019 floods.
Nebraska Farm Bureau Government Relations Director Ansley Mick says they’ll be working with legislators to protect livestock development in the state.
She says they’ll also be monitoring attempts by anti-agriculture groups to push for any moratoriums on ranches and confined animal feeding operations.
Both groups want state Senators and the Governor to come up solutions to the high property taxes Nebraskans have been saddled with.
