Three Nebraska agricultural groups including the Cattlemen’s Association, Farm Bureau and Pork Producers Association have joined together to urge Congress to fully fund the Agriculture Research Service. Farm Bureau’s National Affairs Coordinator Jordan Dux says in last year’s budget, five-percent was cut from ag research due to false news reports about activities at the Meat Animal Research Center at Clay Center, Nebraska.
He says following their request to Congress, lawmakers restored the funding for agricultural research.
Nebraska Pork Producers President Russ (vair-ing) Vering says the Clay Center Meat Research facility is an important tool for producers and is extremely important to the state’s agricultural industry.
Vering adds that research done at the Clay Center facility has led to advancements in nutrition enhancement, food safety and animal handling which in turn has improved the competitiveness of America’s livestock producers.
