The Environmental Protection Agency has rolled out it’s rewritten Waters of the U.S. rule proposal. Nebraska Farm Bureau and other agriculture groups are backing it. Nebraska Farm Bureau Director of National Affairs Jordan Dux says the rewrite provides certainty for landowners and keeps federal authority within the parameters of the Clean Water Act.

He says the rewrite does a good job of rolling back the 2015 WOTUS which was a large federal overreach of authority.

Dux says farmers and ranchers aren’t opposed to clean water but want to make sure it’s properly regulated and is transparent in nature.

Besides the backing of the Farm Bureau, the WOTUS rewrite has been given thumbs up by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association which called the proposal a fresh start and that it protects private property rights and safeguards U.S. waters.
