Nebraska Farm Bureau YF&R Conference Highlights National Policy, Getting Involved

Two important national policy issues for agriculture in 2018 are immigration reform and the farm bill. That’s the message Nebraska Farm Bureau National Affairs Coordinator Jordan Dux shared with young farmers and ranchers at the YF&R Conference over the weekend. He says immigration reform is critical for agriculture.

He says Nebraska Farm Bureau also wants a new farm bill passed this year. However, Dux says finding the funding to ensure a strong safety net will be a real challenge.

Dux says the new farm bill must include a robust crop insurance program. He says farm state lawmakers will have to vigorously defend the expected attacks of that program.

Dux says he encouraged young farmers and ranchers attending the conference to meet with state and national lawmakers about issues important to them, both in Nebraska and in Washington D.C.
