Nebraska Farm Bureau Working For Tax Relief

Nebraska State Senators are a little over halfway through their 2014 session which ends in mid April.  Nebraska Farm Bureau continues to work with lawmakers for tax relief.  Vice President of Government Relations Jay Rempe says some of the bigger tax issues have yet to be worked out.

Rempe says another tax issues they’re following is tentative approval given by the Appropriations Committee to bump up the property tax credit program by $ 25 million. A final committee decision on that is expected sometime today.  Rempe says  Farm Bureau is also watching with concern a water measure that needs fixing.

Rempe says some water measures have received preliminary approval that would provide $ 10 million immediately to water projects out of the state’s cash reserve fund, another $ 21 million out of the general fund for water projects in the next budget year and $ 11 million after that.
