Former Kansas Congressman Tim Huelskamp says he’s been approached by the Trump transition team about becoming U.S. Ag Secretary. Huelskamp lost in the GOP primary earlier this year. Nebraska Farm Bureau National Affairs Coordinator Jordan Dux says their colleagues in Kansas had supported Huelskamp’s primary opponent who eventually won that seat. He says they’ll weigh in with that decision when the new Ag Secretary is named.

He says whoever gets the head job at the USDA will have several challenges to deal with.

Dux says it’s important whoever the next Ag Secretary is that that person represents all facets of U.S. agriculture.

Huelskamp holds a doctorate degree agriculture policy from American University in Washington, D.C.
