The main theme of the Nebraska Unicameral this year is taxes. Most Ag groups and the Governor are looking at what can be done to reduce the tax burden for most Nebraskans. State Farm Bureau Vice President of Government Affairs Jay Rempe says they have yet to consider Senator Al Davis’s property tax relief proposal.
Senator Davis want’s to put in a local income tax that he says would replace and thus reduce property taxes by $ 408 million. Rempe says his group will look at all the property tax relief proposals before deciding which ones if any they support.
Rempe says whatever property tax relief measure is passed must provide immediate and real relief for Nebraska’s farmers and ranchers.
