The House Ways and Means Committee held a hearing this week on tax issues looking at Section 179 expenses and tax extenders including cellulosic biofuels, biodiesel and wind investment tax credits. Nebraska Farm Bureau’s National Affairs Coordinator Jordan Dux says Section 179 is critical for ag producers and the write off of $ 500,000 that was in effect last year needs to be restored.

He says his group will work for that $ 500,000 write off in Section 179 as well as for permanency in that and more help for the other tax extenders

Dux says having just one or two year extensions of tax credit programs doesn’t work very well and producers need more help going forward.
