Nebraska Farm Bureau officials are concerned that the latest move by the U.S. government to place tariffs on European goods may lead to some type of retaliation or hamper future free trade discussions. Farm Bureau’s Director of National Affairs Jordan Dux says this latest development shows both the U.S. and E.U. need to sit down and discuss trade differences.

He says sometimes by using tariffs it can compel countries to come to the negotiating table although his group doesn’t usually support that type of move.

Dux says it’ll likely be a long process before any free trade deal is forged between the U.S. and the European Union.

The latest trade dispute is part of a long time battle between Washington and Brussels over aircraft subsidies.
