Nebraska Farm Bureau members are hoping Congress gets moving on comprehensive tax reform legislation soon. National Affairs Coordinator Jordan Dux says his group would like to see several components in that package and come up with a simpler tax solution that would benefit farmers and ranchers.

He’s encouraged President Trump is focused on fixing the estate tax and is hoping both the House and Senate will move forward with that as part of tax reform once the health care issue is settled.

Dux says his group is studying House Speaker Paul Ryan’s proposal for a border adjustment tax as part of the tax reform legislation recognizing that some ag groups have concerns with that.

Dux thinks this year may be the best chance for getting something done on either repealing or reducing the estate tax given the makeup of Congress and the Administration.
