A recent survey of Nebraska Farm Bureau members shows that farm and ranch families are negatively impacted by high health insurance premiums through the Affordable Care Act. Nebraska Farm Bureau President Steve Nelson says the survey pointed out what they suspected all along.
He’s hoping Congress will get to work and fix the ACA. Nelson expects it to come up during budget discussions.
Nelson is hopeful both parties can come together and find solutions to the problem.
Nelson says the survey showed that 57 percent of farmers and ranchers purchase health insurance through either the individual market or the health insurance exchange. In comparison, only 23 percent of non-farmers purchase insurance through these markets.
