Nebraska Farm Bureau President To Step Down In December

Axtell farmer Steve Nelson who’s served as President of the Nebraska Farm Bureau since 2011 is stepping down this year following their state convention in December. Nelson says it’s been an honor and a pleasure to serve as the leader for the Farm Bureau group. He has many memories of accomplishments the group has made during his tenure, although he credits those to everyone in the organization. Nelson says the opportunity to participate in several trade missions was a highlight.

He says he also felt most useful as the group’s leader when Nebraska Farm Bureau was able to raise funding to help those negatively impacted by the flood which hit the state in 2019.

Nelson says he’s willing to work with his successor if he’s asked to in an advisory capacity but doesn’t want to get in the way of whatever direction the new person takes.

Nelson intends to return to his farm near Axtell and work with his son and spend time with his family and grandchildren.
