Nebraska Farm Bureau President Steve Nelson representing his group and the Common Sense Nebraska coalition testified Thursday in front of the Environmental Protection Agency in favor of their revamped Clean Water Rule. He says this new Waters of the U.S. proposed rule is much more reasonable than the Obama Era regulation

He says the newly proposed regulation is simpler and easier to understand what constitutes a navigable water of the U.S. and should be regulated.

Nelson says the provisions in the new WOTUS will be easier for farmers and ranchers to understand and help them take the proper steps in ensuring water is kept clean while still being able to run their operations efficiently.

Nelson told the EPA and Army Corps that Common-Sense Nebraska and Farm Bureau both want a rule that provides a framework for clean water protection but also clearly identifies waters subject to federal jurisdiction and doesn’t overreach to include ponds, puddles and ditches.
