The Common Sense Nebraska coalition which has been opposed to the Waters of the U.S. rule is pleased with the President’s Executive Order signed Tuesday calling for rewrite of the Clean Water rule. Coalition spokesman Steve Nelson, President of the Nebraska Farm Bureau says while this is a good first step, it will take time to fix the overall problem.
He says having the Court earlier placed a stay on WOTUS is valuable in that it gives time for the Executive order to move the process forward to rewrite or repeal it.
Nelson says there’s also a possibility that Congress could weigh in and take steps to throw out WOTUS as well.
The Common Sense coalition which has been opposed to the WOTUS rule since its inception is made up of over 30 Nebraska agriculture and business groups.
