The Nebraska Farm Bureau is asking Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue to provide relief for producers who’ve been negatively impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. President Steve Nelson says one area they mentioned in their letter to the USDA leader is the biofuels industry which is in an economic down spin.

He says there’s been a lot of concern expressed by farm bureau’s cattle producers about potential manipulation of the markets and failure for them to get a competitive price for their cattle.

Nelson says they also asked the Ag Secretary to get the CARES Act program funding out rapidly to producers needing assistance.

Nelson says they also reminded Secretary Perdue that it’s critical food production facilities stay open and operational for consumers and producers.
