Nebraska State Senators return to Lincoln next week for the final day of their 2016 session to wrap up business and consider any vetos. Nebraska Farm Bureau Senior Economist Jay Rempe says overall it was a successful session for agriculture and passage of their priority issues.
He says legislators were able to pass a couple of measures to provide the state’s farmers and ranchers needed property tax relief. Rempe says Senators continue to make headway on the issue and they hope to build on that next session.
Rempe says lawmakers were able to pass a pair of bills to improve the state’s infrastructure and upkeep of roads and bridges. He says one provided clarity on weight loads and limitations while the other created a new funding mechanism for infrastructure.
The Nebraska Unicameral will complete their 2016 session when they return on April 20.
