The Nebraska Farm Bureau has developed their trade policy for 2021 and outlined what they want the incoming Biden Administration to do to push that forward. Farm Bureau’s National Affairs Director Jordan Dux says they’ve put together three major categories for their trade policy. He says the first is to enforce the Phase one trade deal with China.

He says the U.S. needs to insist that China remove all tariffs placed on U.S. agricultural goods., and that the U.S. work with other nations in dealing with China on trade issues from a multilateral standpoint. Dux adds another category is pushing for international trade agreements with the first step getting Trade Promotion Authority reauthorized.

Dux says their third trade policy category is making sure the U.S. continue being a part of the World Trade Organization and that that body reestablish it’s appellate body. He says the WTO also needs to enforce trade rules with all participating members.

Dux says besides enhancing trade with China, passing TPA and entering into trade pacts that are science based with both the United Kingdom and European Union., another trade deal must be gained with Kenya as that sets the benchmark for potential deals with other African nations.
