Nebraska Farm Bureau leaders have identified their group’s top five priorities for the new farm bill. President Steve Nelson says they unveiled those as conferees started meeting this week to work on the legislation. He says their top goal is to call for protection and improving of risk management programs.

He says they want conferees to make sure federal trade promotion programs are included in the farm bill.

Nelson says their members also want the farm bill to include provisions to help farmers and ranchers access affordable health insurance plans.

Nelson says there final two priorities are making sure the conservation title doesn’t include new permanent easement and conservation stewardship program language as well as includes elimination of unnecessary and harmful federal regulations.
