The Occupational Safety and Health Administration which was recently called out on the carpet by Nebraska Senator Mike Johanns has backed off over regulating grain storage facilities on small farms.  Nebraska Farm Bureau National Affairs Coordinator Jordan Dux says they were pushed by both Senator Johanns and Nebraska Congressman Adrian Smith.

Dux says small farms shouldn’t be regulated the same way a manufacturing companies. He points to the recent explosion at the ag plant in Omaha.

Dux says farms shouldn’t be subject to unnecessary and burdensome regulations. He says  the appropriations language that’s been in effect since 1976 exempts farming operations with 10 or fewer employees from regulations enforced by OSHA funds.
