Nebraska U.S. Senator Deb Fischer has been designated by the Nebraska Farm Bureau as a Friend of Agriculture. Farm Bureau President Steve Nelson says the designation is based on Fischer’s strong track record of supporting the state’s farm and ranch families. Fischer says she’s honored to receive the group’s endorsement as she seek’s re election.
Much of the support Farm Bureau noted Senator Fischer gave them for helping farmers and ranchers centered around regulatory issues. Fischer says one of those main ones was convincing the EPA to withdraw or vacate the 2015 Waters of the U.S. rule.
Fischer says as the EPA rewrites the WOTUS regulation she hopes they base it on common sense.
Farm Bureau leaders says they hope to continue working with Fischer not only on these regulatory issues but also on the next farm bill as she’s recently been appointed to the Senate Ag Committee which is working on that legislation.
