This week Morrill County Farm Bureau President Jeff Metz who farms and ranches in the Nebraska panhandle testified in front of the Senate Ag Committee. He told the panel that EPA’s clarification of the Clean Water Act isn’t about clean water it’s about giving the government too much regulatory authority.

Metz says EPA’s proposed rule needs to be completely thrown out and re done.

Metz adds that if EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers are allowed to move forward with this rule, it will add another layer of red tape to agriculture while doing little to protect the environment. It also will cost farmers and ranchers time and money and in a worst case scenario prevent them from using their own land.
