Nebraska Farm Bureau’s Political Action Committee is endorsing Ben Sasse for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate over challengers Sid Dinsdale, Bart McCleary and Shane Osborn. Farm Bureau President Steve Nelson says Sasse is a Nebraskan with Washington experience who would effectively represent the state’s farmer and ranchers in the Senate.
Nelson says there are several qualities that make Sasse stand out from the other three Republican candidates with the most critical one his experience serving in his fifth year as Midland University President. He was formerly chief of staff for Congressman Jeff Fortenberry and an Assistant Health and Human Services Secretary.
Nelson says Nebraska Farm Bureau members share Sasse’s thoughts on wanting to repeal Obamacare. He says Sasse also will be able to restore the government’s financial health if he’s elected.
The winner of the Republican primary will take on either Dave Domina or Larry Marvin in the general election in November.
