Nebraska Farm Bureau leaders are supporting a pair of measures heard in Ag Committee of the Unicameral this week. LB 176 would allow processors to directly own livestock and LB 175 would provide financial incentives for development in livestock friendly counties. Farm Bureau’s Vice President of Government Relations Jay (rem-pee) Rempe says LB 176 would help get and keep more people involved in farming and ranching in the state.
Rempe says both LB 176 and 175 came out of a U-N-L study done last year showing livestock trends in Nebraska.
Rempe says Senator Schilz’s bills are tools that could make Nebraska more competitive in the livestock industry with other states.
