Thursday the Nebraska Farm Bureau held a news conference to thank Governor Dave Heineman for his support for the state’s farmers and ranchers and to repeat its endorsement of Republican Pete Ricketts who’s running for Governor. Farm Bureau President Steve Nelson says Ricketts shares his group’s stance on three major issues. He says one is opposition to EPA’s proposed Waters of the U.S. rule.
Nelson says another important issue is opposition to threats by activists groups trying to come into Nebraska and cause problems for agriculture.
Nelson says the third ag issue, Farm Bureau and Candidate Ricketts agree on is the need for significant property tax relief that provides a balanced approach to funding local schools and local government.
