Nebraska Farm Bureau members are continuing to push for more property tax relief. President Mark McHargue says while there’s been positive state legislative movement in that area recently to address the issue, more work needs to be done going forward.

He says one area where some funding could be found for further property tax relief is through eliminating some other tax exemptions.

McHargue says they’re also visiting with state lawmakers and other groups concerned about the tax imbalance in Nebraska and looking for a way to correct that imbalance that relies way to much on property taxes.

McHargue says the key to fixing the broken tax system in Nebraska is to find that fair balance between sales, income and property taxes.
