Nebraska’s general fund tax receipts for Fiscal Year 2016-2017 fell $32 million short of projections.  Governor Pete Ricketts is keeping close tabs on the situation.

Ricketts says much of this is related to the drop in farm income.

Farm income is about 20% of the gross domestic product in Nebraska and when that sector drops it impacts the entire state.  Ricketts says the good news is when it comes to job creation, 6,500 were added between May and June and that is the third highest on a percentage basis in the nation.
