The University of Nebraska Lincoln Extension Service along with the Nebraska Corn Board is hosting a Palmar Amaranth field day on Wednesday near Carleton, Nebraska. UNL Extension Weed Management Specialist Amit Jhala says Palmar Amaranth is a very difficult weed to control in both corn and soybeans.

He says one of the best ways to try and control Palmar Amaranth is through Pre emergence herbicides and avoid using glyphosate which the weed is resistant to.

Jhala says one of the most important control steps in Palmar Amaranth is to remove the female Palmar weed.

Wednesday’s field day near Carleton runs from 9 am until 1 pm. For more information contact UNL extension.
