The Fuel the Cure program conducted by the Nebraska Ethanol and Corn Boards raised over $6100 for the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center in Omaha. Ethanol Board Program Manager Megan Grimes says during October each participating station donated 3 cents per gallon for every gallon of ethanol blended fuel from E15 to E85 that was sold to motorists.

She says ethanol has a direct positive impact on reducing cancer and citizen’s health.

Grimes says they hope to run the Fuel to Cure program modeled after Iowa’s Pink at the Pump again next October.

Gasoline contains as many as 300 different chemicals, some of which are known to cause cancer. And according to the American Lung Association up to 70 percent of ground level ozone forming pollutants come from mobile source emissions.
