Eclipse watchers across Nebraska are being warned to prepare for traffic gridlock and cell phone crashes. Beatrice is in the path of totality, and officials there are prepping for a massive population influx. Fire and Rescue Chief Brian Daake is expecting a bounce in calls for police or medical services during eclipse events on Monday, August 21st, and the weekend before.
Beatrice Police Chief Bruce Lang says public safety efforts have a two-fold objective: providing assistance to people while being good ambassadors.
The eclipse will reach totality at just about 1PM on the 21st.
