Nebraska Corrections Director Scott Frakes says he needs 700-Thousand in the next state budget to provide the programs needed to keep inmates from returning to prison after their release.

Frakes says his request for the next two-year budget would add the personnel needed to make sure inmates are placed where they need to be.

Frakes says he needs more people, but also needs to improve employee engagement

Frakes says he needs to address vacancies at the Department of Correctional Services, which has 125 posts that need to be filled.

In addition, Frakes says a recent report calls for adding 138 more workers over the next three years.
