Nebraska Debating Winner-Take-All Status

A very partisan debate is underway among the officially non-partisan state senators as the Unicameral discusses whether Nebraska should again be a winner-take-all state in the presidential elections.

Senator Beau McCoy of Omaha sponsored the bill to revert back to winner-take-all status in the Electoral College, like all but only one other state.
McCoy told colleagues close presidential races seem to be the wave of the future.

Yet, Senator Sue Crawford of Bellevue says 2008 proved the split vote attracted interest, when Barack Obama’s campaign worked the Second Congressional District.

Debate could take up most of the week.
