Nebraska Death Drug Rules Draw Criticism

A proposed change in how executions are performed in the state is drawing criticism from the ACLU of Nebraska.
Legal counsel Amy Miller says the state needs to be transparent about what lethal drugs are used, whether those are safe, and who the supplier is.

The proposal from the state Department of Correctional Services would notify inmates of the execution drugs 60 days before a death warrant request.
Miller says the source and effectiveness of those drugs need to be made public too.

Miller says individuals on the execution team should remain anonymous, but everything else should be made public.
A hearing on the changes is set for December 30th.
