A group of 104 members of Congress led by House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson of Minnesota have written to the U.S. Trade Representative asking him to take strong enforcement actions against Canada and Mexico for following the USMCA trade rules on the dairy provisions. Nebraska Dairy Association Executive Director Kris Bousquet says Canada needs to get rid of their class 6 and 7 milk pricing system as the agreement calls for.

He says its critical Canada and anyone else not following the deal they signed onto have their feet held to the fire in being accountable.

Bousquet says it’s also important that Mexico follow USMCA which calls for all common cheese name specified under the deal be respected which is basically a geographical indicator issue.

The Congressmen outlined their concerns to both the USTR and Ag Secretary calling for proper enforcement of USMCA.
