Nebraska’s correction officials are coming under fire from several lawmakers for withholding an unflattering report that suggests the state was largely at fault for the 2015 Mother’s Day riot at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.
State Senator Laura Ebke of Crete is Chairwoman of the Judiciary Committee, and says news of the report just being released now is especially frustrating because lawmakers had asked for all relevant information on the riot…

The report only became public once it was referenced in a trial last week where a former inmate is claiming the state was negligent in allowing the riot to happen.

Ebke says many of the causes for the riot identified in the report still haven’t been addressed

The report indicates tensions were rising at Tecumseh in the days before the riot do to stricture rules for prisoners, staffing issues and coordinated pushes by gangs.
