The U.S. Grains Council says several Southeast Asian nations pose a lucrative potential export market for DDGs, Dried Distillers Grains. Among the top markets in the region are Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and New Zealand. Nebraska Corn Grower’s Association President Dan Nerud says cultivating that market will pay dividends for America’s corn growers.

He says with all the economic pressure the U.S. ethanol industry has been under, getting positive sales of DDG’s overseas will help counter part of that negative effect.

The U.S. Grains Council notes that Southeast Asia is now the destination of one third of all U.S. DDG exports. Nerud says that translates into very positive benefits for U.S. corn growers.

Other markets showing increased interest in U.S. DDGs are the Philippines and Malaysia.
